Organisational Structure
NARI is headed by a Director General assisted by a Deputy and a Director of Research. NARI headquarters are located at Lae. NARI has five research stations located in the main regions of PNG. The main stations are headed by Research Program Leaders, who report to the Director of Research. Tambul station is currently treated as a sub-station of the Highlands Program based at Aiyura.

Research Programs
Major research programs include food crops, alternative crops, entomology and plant pathology. There is also a resource management program which covers germplasm conservation and land management.
