Organisational Structure
MARDI is conducting all aspects of agricultural research excluding fisheries, cocoa, timber, oil palm and natural rubber. Horticulture Research Centre (HRC) is one of the eight research centres in MARDI and only performs applied research on major tropical fruits, vegetables and ornamentals. The centre is further divided into six programs.
Research Programs
The six programmes in this centre are
1. Development of new cultivars;
2. Development of regulated production systems;
3. Improvement production and quality through efficient input utilisation;
4. Plant architecture and planting systems for mechanisation;
5. Effective pest and disease management;
6. Post-harvest handling and minimal processing.
