Research Programs
Research activities focus on genetic collection of indigenous fruits, evaluation of local and introduced cultivars of fruits and vegetables, agronomic studies, crop protection methods, post-harvest and food technology. Hi-tech farming such as hydroponic are encouraged. Currently, many local entrepreneurs have invested in hydroponics to produce clean high quality vegetables. Special efforts are also made to introduce integrated pest management (IPM) on fruits and vegetables to farms to improve and maintain product quality. Quality control and quality assurance (QAQC) activities include training of producers organized through the Asean Australian Economic Co-operation Program (AEECP).
